Pray for success, academic achievement and the Kangaku Festival


Entrance exams are the gateway to school education. During the entrance examination season, many students pray for their success in the examinations. It is very important to calm the mind and face everything with a calm mind. When students enter or graduate from school, they also visit Tenjin-sama to offer their sincerity of gratitude.

We ask for a minimum contribution from 5,000 yen.

Kangaku Festival

The Kangaku-Sai is a festival held on the 25th of each month to pray for academic progress and good health on the occasion of the Tenjin Monthly Festival (the feast day of Sugawara Michizane, the kami of study). The shrine holds the Kangaku Festival on the 25th of every month. We look forward to your attendance so that many people may be blessed with the divine virtues of our deities.

Day of Festival: 25th of every month
Time: 11:00 am
In September, the festival is held from 10am due to the annual festival.

Fee for the pray: 1,000 yen per person
Application Accepted daily at the shrine office.
For those unable to attend on the day of the ceremony, an offerings will be sent by post.
